Grewia Asiatica, also known as the phalsa or Indian Gooseberry, is a species of flowering plant native to South and Southeast Asia. It is a small, deciduous tree or shrub that grows up to 6 meters in height, with leaves that are dark green and glossy on the top and pale green on the bottom. The plant produces small, purple-pink flowers that bloom in the summer, followed by small, round, edible fruit that is green when unripe and purplish-brown when ripe.

The fruit of the Grewia Asiatica plant is high in vitamin C and has a sour, acidic taste. It is often used in the preparation of beverages, jams, and other sweets in South Asian cuisine. The plant is also used medicinally in traditional systems of medicine, including Ayurveda
